Dev Ananad - a Karamyogi

Dev Anand's final rites were performed in London yesterday. Here was a person whose dedication to work for seven decades fits in very well with the well-known and commonly quoted verse of Gita, " Your right is to work only, perform your work only and not all to its  fruit, let not the fruit of action be your motive nor let your attachment be inaction."This lays emphasis on the obligatory nature of duty. Keep on working, and then on to the ultimate goal of self realisation.
Parthsarthy, in his commentry on Gita, says, "Work for work's sake, knowing it well eventually take you to your ultimate goal, Work well accomplished is the joy of life. Take up your work without any axe to grind. You must do what you ought to do in life. Go about it with an independent spirit like a sportsman takes to his sport. Work then become a pleasure."
